Network & Security Support Engineers
Job Description
We are looking for a Network & Security Support Engineer with 1-2 years of experience to support, monitor and perform basic configuration of our customers’ network and security infrastructure.
You will work alongside our infrastructure team to maintain the availability, performance and security of network, data-centre and cloud environments.
The role is suitable for someone with good networking fundamentals who is eager to develop practical skills across networking, firewalls, cloud and cybersecurity.

What You Will Do
- Monitor network devices, firewalls, wireless access points, servers and connectivity.
- Perform basic configuration of switches, routers, wireless devices and firewalls under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Monitor dashboards and alerts relating to device availability, performance, bandwidth, connectivity and security.
- Perform initial troubleshooting of LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN and internet connectivity issues.
- Assist with VLAN, IP address, switch-port, access-point and basic firewall-rule configurations.
- Monitor firewall, VPN, authentication and system logs for errors or suspicious activity.
- Perform first-level investigation of network and security alerts.
- Create, update and track incidents and service requests through to resolution.
- Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior engineers, vendors or service providers.
- Ensure all incidents, changes and technical activities are properly documented.
- Assist with device configuration backups, firmware updates, patching and security hardening.
- Maintain network diagrams, IP address records, asset inventories and technical documentation.
- Support user access, remote-access VPN and multi-factor authentication issues.
- Assist with infrastructure installation, upgrades, migrations and project activities.
- Provide remote or onsite technical support when required.
- Follow change-management, access-control and information-security procedures.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance and on-call support when required.
Desired Capabilities
- 1-2 years of experience in network support, IT infrastructure support, security operations or a related technical role.
- Basic practical experience with switches, routers, wireless access points and firewalls.
- Familiarity with technologies from Cisco, HPE/Aruba, Fortinet, SonicWall or similar vendors.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP and IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs and trunking, switching and routing fundamentals, DNS and DHCP, NAT and PAT, access control lists, Wi-Fi and wireless networking, and site-to-site and remote-access VPNs.
- Basic understanding of network-security concepts, including firewalls, segmentation, secure remote access and least-privilege access.
- Ability to monitor dashboards, logs and alerts and perform initial investigation.
- Familiarity with network-monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as PRTG, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Wireshark, SNMP or Syslog will be an advantage.
- Basic understanding of AWS or Google Cloud networking and security will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with remote-management tools such as console servers, HPE iLO and Dell iDRAC will be an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of vulnerability management, patching and system hardening will be an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to follow technical procedures and escalate issues appropriately.
- Willingness to learn and work with new networking, security and cloud technologies.
- CCNA, Network+, Security+ or an equivalent certification will be considered an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of VoIP and SIP will be considered an advantage.
